ANG Pronouns - Overview

Mark Complete

In this section you will learn and understand how to read and use ANG pronouns in Filipino.

Pronouns are an important part of language, to take the place of a noun or a group of words acting as a noun.

It would not make sense to repeat a noun over and over again when you talk or write. Not only is it inconvenient, but it would sound unnatural.

Pronouns in the Filipino language, known as panghalip, can be categorized into different types: personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, interrogative pronouns, and indefinite pronouns.

There are three types of pronouns in Tagalog: Ang Pronouns, Ng Pronouns and Sa Pronouns. These different types of pronouns are used in different situations when creating a sentence.

ANG pronouns are used when the focus of a sentence is on the main "actor" in the sentence. "Focus" is a complex topic for another lesson, but for now let's learn how ANG pronouns work.
