I am studying the Filipino language because I have many Filipino friends and I want to be able to join in their discussions without them having to switch to English for me. So I need to be able to understand full speed Filipino, but not necessarily speak it quickly.
I am practicing by listening to videos with subtitles until i can make out the syllables. Wow can they speak fast! Fortunately, they speak Tagalog+English, not their dialect so Tagalog is the place for me to begin.
