And now for something very few people in my social media world outside of my Filipino friends and family will have understood before. I encourage correction for anything that might be incorrect or better relayed to the masses

In learning a new language comes learning more about the target language culture. Part of the traditional culture of the Philippines is the indigenous script of Baybayin. Prior to the occupation by the Spanish local script was the the written language. There is a push by government nowadays to rejuvenate the old scripts (namely Baybayin, as being the script of the traditional Tagalog speakers) and even including it on government signage and movements to have it included in school carriculums. As with most indigenous cultures, many different scripts were used throughout the lands along with relative spoken languages. Filipino (mostly Tagalog) is the national language so it is reasonable to suggest the focus is placed on the preservation of the relative Baybayin script.

The above example may not be super accurate but is the best I can muster with my limited learned knowledge to date. It should be, at least, understood by anyone who is familiar with the Baybayin script of the Philippines.

You must truly be wondering just how the heck I am spending my spare time?.. Well the brain is active and I am loving my up and down journey into the language learning world of the Philippines.

Hanggang sa muli !

It is very interesting indeed, btw your images didn't load tho. I can appreciate the desire to return to baybayin but I must say I think we have bigger fish to fry here in pinas. They already teach in 3 different languages with varying degrees of competency adding ancient script in to the mix is just a move in the wrong direction. More than half the country doesn't even accept Tagalog as their national language and only use it to speak to Tagalogs (if even then, many prefer English). I don't think they will be very motivated to learn Tagalog based script though from my limited research their own scripts are similar. Just too costly for an education system already stretched too thin.

@AMBoy Thanks for your comments and fair to think you have a valid point. As a new learner to the culture I find it interesting to also learn of this. It helps me as an individual to further appreciate my language journey. As for the script not loading, I guess it's probably the system's ability to convert. I found that if I viewed the same post I placed on fb from the IOS phone I used to create it then it reads well. When I viewed the same post on an older android phone of mine I noted that it didn't convert. Anyway, all good fun in trying

@AMBoy Personally I agree with Amboy. After a split total of over 2and ahalf years here in the Philippines I find very little interest in the script language except for a very few academics. I personally believe that old languages should die graceful deaths such as Ye Olde English, Welsh, Gaelic, Babayin, and others, and even the scripted Thai and Indian languages too, except for enthusiasts.

@AMBoy Thankyou sir, for me it's more about my getting to appreciate the culture and history associated with the country of target language. I don't intend to spend too much time with this as it's more important for me to learn Tagalog and Hiligaynon as they are written and spoken today. Just a little something I wanted to share with what I've learned
