Hello! Kumusta! Nay ang pangalan ko. I’m from Austin, TX and I’m a beginner Filipino language student . I’m using Pimsleur, currently on lesson 6 of Tagalog level 2.
I am studying the Filipino language because my Lola is getting older and it makes her light up when I talk to her in Tagalog. The verb conjugations are starting to confuse me, so I thought I’d join this

I actually do have a question:

I’m getting confused whether to use “niya” or “siya” in my sentences. Can you help with this?

@AdoboNay Kumusta! The basic difference:
Niya is either possessive (his/her) or used for specific types of verbs as the doer (she/he), when used with “object-focused” verbs.
Ex: Kinain NIYA ANG hamburger. He ate the HAMBURGER. (Answer to WHAT did he eat?)

Siya is the doer (she/he) for “doer-focus” verbs.
Ex: Kumain SIYA NG hamburger. HE ate the hamburger. (Answer to WHO ate the hamburger.)

Same with ako vs ko, ka vs mo, kami vs namin, sila vs nila etc. Does that help?
