Hello! My name is GaryD. I am from USA and I am a Beginner Filipino language student.
I am studying the Filipino language because I would like to visit to the Philippines next year and hopefully retire to the Philippines. I understand English is commonly spoken in the Philippines, but I still would like to learn as much of the native language so that I may understand the people and culture better.

Welcome! Tagalog will serve you well any where you go, but remember there are many languages here! You might end up doing double duty!

@akosikoneho Yes, I see what you mean. I am doing research and find that I may need to understand some other languages as well, depending on the region that I wish to travel or settle. I never was very good at learning foreign languages, but perhaps my heart wasn't in to it. Since my desire is to retire in the Philippines, I believe I may be more successful this time round.
