For a foreigner speaking Tagalog:

Wil Dav is a popular presence on Youtube;

Doc Adam provides detailed conversations on a bunch of topics;

Bisyang Hilaw is certainly energetic in Bisaya.

I am still searching for my JAhhm! Point me....

Wil Dasovich?

No offense to him, but his Tagalog is actually bad and obviously scripted.

You're better off watching Chris Urbano. His Tagalog is way better and more natural.

Also check out Rafe Bartholomew. He's not a Youtuber but he has a couple of documentaries that features Philippines Basketball and you'll see him speaking in Tagalog with Filipinos

Rafe is pretty good...seems more comfortable with the language (than Wil or Chris or Dr Adam).

I do kind of find the "White Guy Speaks Tagalog" videos a little cringey, like Puting Pinoy and Dwaine Wooley put out...but good for them for taking the effort and promoting the language.

Some foreign vloggers seem to be using Tagalog as a monetization tool, that's why it's cringey. It tends to center around them "speaking Tagalog".

Unlike Chris Urbano and Rafe Bartholomew who use Tagalog as a cultural immersion.

When I see vids from Chris and Rafe, I forget they are white guys who did not grow up in the Philippines

Interesting you say "scripted" of Wil...a number of Pinoys have mentioned exact same thoughts. I did see a 30 minute interview with him on GMA/ABS...will they cooperate in such a "presentation" for a foreigner?

^^ I never worked in the media, but I'm guessing, it is "rehearsed". I dunno, but how he speaks in Tagalog does not seem that there's a "natural flow".

Also, one thing about Wil Dasovich, he's not technically a foreigner. He is half Filipino.

It seems that he's just not putting the necessary effort to learn the language. His pronunciation is very, very awkward (He still sounds like a tourist even if he's been livimg in the Philippines for many years). Compare him to the two white guys I mentioned early, and to Sam Milby (used to be an actor/singer in the Philippines), who is half white who came to the Philippines not knowing a lick of Tagalog, but now, his Tagalog is very good.

I wonder how Wil will do in an "impromptu" Tagalog conversation.

A couple of women come to mind. Akosibail is a Canadian youtuber who speaks very well, though I find her vids quite dull. Daiana Menezes from Brazil speaks well too.

I don't really like any of the "pinoy baiters" , super cringe. I am my own inspiration.

@primesgenato Bailey has strong Filipino style but doesn't say much when I reflect back on the video? Limited working verb vocab it seems but I admire her connection.

One of my local agents bumped into Wil and confirmed there was very little conversation potential between them. But he makes real connections easily enough...all good for me.

AMBoy What are Pinoy Baiters?

@BoraMac They’re people (usually white guys) who make click-baity Youtube thumbnails and titles for videos that shamelessly appeal to Filipino pride in order to get clicks/earn money. A little of that is fine, but some people really go overboard... ; )

Not Tagalog, but this seems to be the most "Bisaya" white guy out there.

Also, these two have good Tagalog especially the guy on the left (the "barker").

That's a lame idea...but half a million views...is it worthy of hate...?
