Magandang hapon from Australia, with learning slow for me over the last 12 months I have taken the plunge into some listening exercises. For the most part this is very difficult for me to pick the word breaks in the native voice and a lot of frustrating repeats are required before I get to some sort of positive strike rate on the score board This example is an exception to my effort to date but I am pleased to spending some time away from simply building a vocabulary. I am looking forward to hopefully connectiong online with a tutor for some face time and real time conversation practice. I am extremely grateful for the dedication and efforts for those responsible for sites like this and to be able to make it freely accessible to the world is nothing short of sensational selflessness. I take my hat off to you guys 👏👏👏

Nice job! Consider starting a journal? I'm finding it pretty motivational and nice for tracking progress.

Hearing the language is the hardest for me. I cant tell where one word ends and another begins.

@Ahkasi That's still the same for the most. I have started to notice lately though, I'm hearing a few more words throughout a given conversation which is a good sign. Most of the time a sentence can seem like one very, very long word if spoken normal to fast paced like in the movies

I used to struggle with this concept at first but one thing that really helps is focus more on listening to music and singing it, when you sing you will hear the words and repeat the words and eventually repeat that song until you fully know the lyrics. I find that it is a great method for those struggling with listening practice.

try to aim for songs with a face pace to simulate actual conversation since most languages are spoken at a fast pace and just have your partner practice with you and try to grab the full immersion and struggle until you start to learn. Make sure your partner has patience though just to give some translation of sentences and you can ask your partner to repeat slowly if you have a hard time understanding.

YouTube Nat King Cole single
"Para sa yo" Because of you
He sings clearly
There are several videos of him singing, one has tagalog subtitles,
Another subtitles in English
I'm not sure just how accurate they are
