And now for something very few people in my social media world outside of my Filipino friends and family will have understood before. I encourage correction for anything that might be incorrect or better relayed to the masses

In learning a new language comes learning more about the target language culture. Part of the traditional culture of the Philippines is the indigenous script of Baybayin. Prior to the occupation by the Spanish local script was the the written language. There is a push by government nowadays to rejuvenate the old scripts (namely Baybayin, as being the script of the traditional Tagalog speakers) and even including it on government signage and movements to have it included in school carriculums. As with most indigenous cultures, many different scripts were used throughout the lands along with relative spoken languages. Filipino (mostly Tagalog) is the national language so it is reasonable to suggest the focus is placed on the preservation of the relative Baybayin script.
The above example may not be super accurate but is the best I can muster with my limited learned knowledge to date. It should be, at least, understood by anyone who is familiar with the Baybayin script of the Philippines.
You must truly be wondering just how the heck I am spending my spare time?.. Well the brain is active and I am loving my up and down journey into the language learning world of the Philippines.
Hanggang sa muli !
