"Kay" has the same definition and function as "sa," except that it is used in front of a proper noun / name.
For example, it's incorrect to say:
WRONG: "Bumaling ako sa Mary."
Since "Mary" is a proper noun / name, you would need to use "kay" instead of "sa":
